UC Berkeley has partnered with Bay Area colleges to co-host The LeaderShape Institute (https://www.leadershape.org/institute/), a nationally recognized and highly impactful leadership development program. A Bay Area consortium approach maximizes resources, fosters a stronger network of leaders across the Bay Area, and provides this transformative experience to more students. UC Berkeley’s participation in this LeaderShape consortium provides a platform for students to advance in their leadership development and benefit from a fully immersive leadership experience.  

UC Berkeley Student Leadership Programs is the lead contact to co-host this consortium, including student coordination and providing a staff facilitator for the institute. Student Leadership Programs delivers experiential learning opportunities that integrate leadership development, personal reflection, and peer mentorship to enhance student engagement, foster a strong sense of belonging, and offer multiple pathways to leadership.

LeaderShape Overview

The LeaderShape Institute is a four-day immersive experience designed to significantly

enhance participants’ leadership capacity. Through self-assessment, simulations, and small group discussions led by trained facilitators, participants will develop a vision for something they care about and create a plan of action.

Institute Learning Outcomes

  • Commit to identify core personal values and act in ways that are congruent with these values.
  • Through self-awareness and reflection, identify the ways social positionality informs perspective, reactions, and interactions.
  • Develop relationships that honor the dignity of individuals and groups in the context of equity and social systems.
  • Create a community-oriented vision that addresses critical social and global issues, embracing a healthy disregard for the impossible.

Dates: March 23-26, 2026 (During Spring Break) 

Host location: Camp Maymac; Santa Cruz, CA
